Woollam’s Young Builders Alliance takes cadets on a career-developing journey

The Woollam’s Young Builders Alliance program aims to provide work and educational opportunities that shape an exciting career for cadets and apprentices and Woollam Constructions. Over a weekend in April, as part of WYBA, four young cadets from Brisbane went on a career development and mentoring excursion to Mackay.

After an eventful early morning flight and near-death experience (plane engine exploded!), the cadets were treated to a quick tour of Mackay before a busy day meeting with John Tait, Chairman of Good Shepherd Lodge, local subcontractor Mark Maunder and Steve Gaviolli, client representative of the Mackay Showgrounds, to find out about their varied experiences working with Woollam.

Over lunch, the cadets volunteered their time assisting with a fundraising BBQ for the Kidney Support Network. They continued in this spirit with preparing and participating at the PresCare Woollam Constructions Charity Golf Day on Sunday.

The cadets spent valuable time on site at the Mackay Airport Hotel and were accommodated in the Quest Latitude Apartments, allowing for an up-close and personal learning experience with Woollam Constructions’ projects.
