Woollam Constructions was engaged by Metro North Hospital and Health Service to Design and Construct the highly anticipated Redcliffe Hospital multi-storey carpark. The project consists of a four-level multi-storey car park providing 591 standard bays, 12 PWD bays, 39 Small Car Parking Bays and 37 motorcycle bays. It also incorporates 9 electric vehicle charging bays to General Parks and 2 electric charging bays to disabled parks, with sufficient electrical capacity to increase the number to 50.
The Woollam team identified several opportunities for innovation throughout the design and construction of the multi-storey carpark including reducing the length of the building by 1.5m, a total reduction in floor area of 324sqm, and adding 30 car spaces to the design. The ability to increase the number of car spaces was also achieved through adjusting the shape and orientation of the egress stairs, which also reduced the egress distances.
