Early Contractor Involvement Case Study: Harrup Park Country Club

Woollam Constructions recently completed the construction of a new function centre, car park and major internal renovations to existing areas of the Harrup Park Country Club located in Mackay. Engaged under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process, the project exemplifies Woollam’s commitment to achieving quality outcomes for clients through constant collaborative consultation.

The award winning venue presented a challenge due to the venue’s site and operating constraints as well as pre booked venue dates. This resulted in a major programme revision and through the ECI process allowed Woollam to provide alternative construction methodology. Woollam recommended a redesign of the initial structural design to include steel beams and columns with the concrete slab on top rather than a suspended ground slab with concrete beams and columns. This delivered a cost saving of $30,000 and cut 4 weeks from the original programme.

The facility remained fully operational during construction, with Woollam providing temporary kitchen facilities and coordinating installation times with the client to reduce downtime of live areas. The Harrup Park expansion, inclusive of scope growth throughout the contract, was successfully delivered within the tight time-frames and came in under budget.
