Rockhampton team triumphs in Outback Trailblazer Challenge

The Woollams Rockhampton team is still on a high after claiming victory in the new bush charity event the Outback Trailblazer 4WD Team Challenge.

The event, held for the first time between October 18-24 last year, helped raise funds for Angel Flight Australia – a charity which coordinates non-emergency flights for financially and medically needy people in remote communities.

Woollams helped sponsor the worthy event and entered two teams of 'Outback Angels' from Brisbane and Rockhampton.

The triumphant 'Men In Black' Rockhampton team, made up of Ian MacGregor, his father Bob and Trevor Black, traversed an astonishing 4,000km across western Queensland on a “four-leaf clover” course where they took in the sights of outback towns including Longreach, Barcaldine, Windorah, Jundah and Yaraka (population 19).

The Outback Trailblazer was organised by Longreach lad Lance Smith OAM and Barcaldine Mayor Rob Chandler. Lance and his team organised an amazing journey through Queensland's bush towns, where participants took in an open air concert set on the rock face of a 'jump up' outside Alpha, fished for Yellowbelly in remote Cooper Creek, mustered sheep on Crossmoor Station and brushed up on their aviation history at the Qantas Founders Outback Museum in Longreach.

The team from Woollams, which has built numerous projects in the bush over the last 125 years including the Longreach Stockman's Hall of Fame in 1988, made some particularly good mates in Muttaburra.

They all put their hands in their pockets to help the Muttaburra Community Development Association with some much needed funds to acquire an $18,000 defibrillator for a local ambulance vehicle.
